Boys' soccer: Schwab's goal give BHS a win over Shawnee

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Shawnee Indians hosted the Bluffton Pirates for a non-conference high school boys' soccer match in almost perfect weather conditions.

Bluffton came away with the win, 1-0.
 
Bluffton had 6 shots on goal versus 3 for the Indians. In the 56th minute Isaiah Schwab took a pass from Josh Begg and buried it in the net.
 
Keeper for Bluffton, Levi Smith, had three saves; the Shawnee goal keeper had 4 saves.
 
In the JV game Bluffton prevailed, 1-0.

Girls' soccer: Bluffton moves to 9-4-1

And Sarah Theisen has second-in-row 3-goal game

The Bluffton Lady Pirates girls' soccer team tallied another victory against local rival Cory-Rawson at Steinmetz Field on Thursday evening wiith Senior Sarah Theisen racking up another 3 goals to win 3-0.

The first goal came 7:30 into the first half when freshman Kayla White passed to Theisen who landed goal 1. 

Then, 10 minutes later, the same duo scored goal 2 making it 2-0 at the half.  With 17:45 left in the game Senior Captain Abbie Parkins passed to Theisen who pulled way out in front, pulling the goalie out of the box, and Theisen sent the ball right past her.

Boys' soccer: Bluffton continues in 3rd spot

Division III northwestern Ohio coaches' poll; and BHS beats Bearcats 4-0

Bluffton High School boys' soccer team kept its third-place ranking in this week's northwestern Ohio Division III soccer coaches poll.

First is Archbold and second is Lake. Bluffton follows in third, ahead of Eastwood.

Ada native Dysert moved off Arizona practice squad

The Arizona Cardinals will sign quarterback Zac Dysert off their practice squad in anticipation that starter Carson Palmer might not be ready to return from concussion protocol for a Thursday game against the San Francisco 49ers, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Dysert beat out Aaron Murray for the third quarterback gig after the Cardinals parted ways with former No. 3 signal-caller Matt Barkley following the preseason. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.

Girls' soccer: Bluffton knocks off tough Liberty Benton 3-2

Sarah Theisen scores three times for Pirates

The Lady Pirate soccer team hosted rival Liberty Benton in a non-conference game at Steinmetz Field Tuesday evening.

The Eagles landed the first goal 22 minutes into the first half, and the Pirates responded 5 minutes later when Senior Sarah Theisen hit the back of the net with her first of 3 goals for the night. Half time score was 1-1. 

Six minutes into the second half, Theisen had a breakaway pulling the LB goalie way out of the net, and Theisen shot it right past her for her second goal. 

LB responded 10 minutes later, tying the score at 2-2.

3 Bluffton soccer teams bring home the trophies from Glandorf

Bluffton had five teams play in the Glandorf Soctoberfest tournament this past weekend. Out of the five teams, three of them came in first place in their division. (Photos by Jamie Nygard)
