Ohio gun season runs Nov. 29 to Dec. 5

As you walk outside with a cup of coffee, a frosty breeze hits your face and chills go down your spine as the trek for the morning paper begins. The rising sun sits on the fence slowly melting the frost off the dying grass.

For some, the morning started long before the sun was up. And instead of slippers and a robe, these people are wearing blaze orange and camouflage. Fall in northwest Ohio brings another season with it: Whitetail deer season.

Thelma M. (Welty) Bowersox 1927-2010

Thelma Bowersox

Thelma M. (Welty) Bowersox, 83, of Bluffton, formerly of Mt. Cory, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Bridge Hospice Center in Blanchard Valley Hospital.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1927, in Pandora, Ohio, to the late Levi and Golda (Doty) Welty. On June 11, 1948, she married Robert Bowersox at St. John's Mennonite Church in Pandora and they recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.

2010 holiday postage shipping cut off dates listed

The Bluffton post office has released 2010 holiday shipping cut off dates for overseas, military mail and domestic mail.

It's a BIG Blaze parade on Saturday - over 80 units!

Saturday's Blaze of Lights parade will be one to remember. Over 80 units will make up the parade, according to Junior Weihrauch, parade coordinator. Weihrauch has been working on this year's parade since this summer.

The parade forms at 4 p.m. on Saturday at The Centre, 601 N. Main St. The parade starts at 5 p.m. and the route is south on Main Street through the business district where it disbands at College Avenue.

Passport day Dec. 1 at Marbeck Center

The Bluffton Post Office will hold a passport day at Marbeck Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1. The event will take place in the Kreider Room.

Persons wanting a passport must bring a certified copy of a birth certificate and one photo ID, and two checks or two money orders for payment.

A basic adult passport fee is $150. Passport photos will be taken on site.

Persons with questions may contact the Bluffton post office.
