Bluffton library thanks summer donors

The Bluffton Public Library, located at 145 South Main Street, wishes to thank the following list of its Summer Read donors for contributions to the 2024 program.

Vine St. reunion in honor of Michael Kingsley

The Bluffton community is invited to Vine Street on June 22 for a reunion honoring classmate and friend Michael Kingsley with a day of remembrance and fun.

The invitation is to "Relax, listen to music, and share stories as we reunite and remember friends and loved ones." All are invited to attend.

Food trucks, basketball, cornhole, a putting green, foam axe throwing will all be available to all ages.

Campfires will be lit at 9:00 p.m. It is suggested that participants bring a chair.

The Natural: IberogastTM for the gastrointestinal tract

The Natural was a 1984 movie based on the 1952 novel by Bernard Malamud about a naturally talented baseball player named Roy Hobbs.  The movie starred many famous actors including Robert Redford, Robert Duvall and Glenn Close. The movie was nominated for four Academy Awards. 

Many drugs originate from natural products including acetylsalicylic acid, which comes from the bark of the white willow tree.  The German multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology firm known as Bayer AG was the first to launch acetylsalicylic acid in 1899 as their trademark product known as Aspirin. Bayer is still famous for aspirin today.

Discovery Days, June 21-22

The first Discovery Days of 2024 begin this weekend, June 21-22. New this year, on Friday and Saturday you can shop and enter to win Bluffton Bucks. Discovery Days are a program of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Ada's Rite Aid survives June 17 round of store closings

More store closings to be announced

On June 17, the Rite Aid pharmacy chain announced the closing of 15 Ohio stores, according to WTOL 11. The June 17 list does not include the Ada, Ohio store.
