It's Blaze of Lights and Shop Small Saturday

Mary Kay Weis was a retired Bluffton postal employee

Mary Kay Weis, 62, of Ottawa, died 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at her residence.  She was born May 25, 1957, in Lima to the late Thomas and Ruth (Inkrott) Ellerbrock.  On May 9, 1981, she married Bill Weis and he survives in Ottawa.

I-75 work at Findlay affects traffic pattern

Work on Interstate 75 will affect traffic patterns soon, according to ODOT.

Interstate 75 will experience a traffic switch as additional traffic is added to the southbound side overnight Friday, Nov. 15, into the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 16. The shift is expected to begin after 9 p.m. and is expected to minimally affect traffic.

Donald Burkholder was retired from Reichenbach Lumber

Donald "Don" H. Burkholder, 87, died Nov. 13, 2019, at 10:46 p.m. at Willow Ridge - Frieda House, surrounded by his family. 

Don was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Bluffton, to Hiram and Martha (Augsburger) Burkholder who both preceded him in death. On Oct. 8, 1954, he married Dorothy (Hardwick) Burkholder who survives in Bluffton.  

Don graduated from Bluffton High School in 1950. He was a sergeant in the United States army and served as a medic in the Korean War.

School food drive underway

Both the Middle School and Elementary kindergarten classes are collecting food items for the Bluffton Food Pantry. Below is a list of non-perishable items which the food pantry currently needs.

The food pantry kindly requests no glass containers. 

For kindergartners
Bring your donated items to your classroom. Deadline is Friday, Nov. 22

For the Middle School
The goal is 500 items from each class. Food items can be dropped off in room 107 (Mrs. Ault). Deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 17.
