We all laugh because humor feels good and brings people together, but did you know it has many health benefits? Researchers have studied laughter, along with positive emotions, and found that laughter and lightheartedness can be a natural medicine for many conditions.

Bonnie Lou Hollar, 85, died Nov. 15, 2019, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Bonnie was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Houcktown, Ohio, to the late Carson and Martha (Schnegg) Parish. On July 27, 1956, she married Billy Hollar who survives.
Bonnie graduated from Bluffton High School and attended Bluffton College. She had worked as a switchboard operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Company in Lima and had also been a nurses' aide at Briar Field Nursing Home in Sylvania.
Performed as a member of several orchestra across the U.S.

N. Laurence Burkhalter, 99, died Oct. 15, 2019, at his retirement home in Bluffton Ohio.
Larry was born in Mussoorie, India, June 30, 1920. The only son of Mennonite missionaries, Larry graduated from Woodstock High School and went on for degrees in music from Bluffton College, Northwestern University, and Ohio State University. He married the late Holly Mosiman Burkhalter in 1943.

Join us for “Healthcare Economics: Evidence on the Public Finance of Healthcare in the 21st Century” presented by Robert Kemp, PhD (Economics) on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Kemp will lead a discussion focusing on questions about healthcare and its funding in the U.S. and other developed countries.

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will host the Blaze of Lights homemade soup and sandwich dinner on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The menu will include three homemade soups ham and bean, chicken noodle and potato), hot dogs, shredded chicken sandwiches, chips, desserts and drinks.
The dinner will be held in the basement fellowship hall of the church, corner of Main and Cherry Streets in downtown Bluffton, the site of the Blaze of Lights display. No tickets or reservations are needed.
