Needed: a school board member with the entire community in mind

We recognize the significance of Dan Rumer's role in the Bluffton schools. Not only has he served as a high school principal, but also as a school board member. He is the only person ever to serve in both roles - of course, at different times.

We appreciate the devotion he has given to the school district as a professional and as a parent. He will be hard to replace on the board.

As we look back, there have been very few times that a school board member has resigned during a term. This is an unusual event. It is the school board's duty to select a replacement.

Main Street entertainer

When we took this photo James Atkins was banging out some James Taylor. Atkins, 21, of Bluffton, and a 2007 Bluffton High School grad, says he plays guitar from three to four hours a day. Sometimes you'll hear him strumming away on Main Street.

There are Steeler fans in Bluffton

You can only do this in states that provide you with one license plate - not two. And, you can bet that this plate was on a Pennsylvania car in Ramseyer residence hall parking lot.
