Raymond Victory's best fishing story ever

Raymond Victory of Rawson is a lifetime fisherman, but May 2 was the best fishing day he ever had. He caught tagged trout number 1 at the 2010 Bluffton Sportmen's Club fishing derby. The trout is worth over $1,000. He caught the fish on the north bank of the Buckeye.

Understanding health care legislation May 14 chamber topic

Bluffton chamber members will hear what the new health care legislation means to individuals and business owners during the 7:30 a.m., Friday, May 14, chamber breakfast in the third floor of the town hall.

Patrick Paule of Savage & Associates, Perrysburg, is the speaker. He specializes in employee benefits for companies and individuals. The focus of his practice is with group benefits such as health, dental, and disability insurance. Other areas include buy-sell agreements, long term care insurance, key employee insurance, and worksite marketing.

Nature's God will look favorably on Arbor Day enthusiasts

Yesterday (April 30) was Arbor Day (celebrated in Ohio on the last Friday in April) and several members of the Swiss Community Historical Society planted Beech, Red Oak, Elm and Sugar Maple trees at the Swiss Homestead northwest of Bluffton. Our mission was to put in trees that were common in the community when Christian and Barbara Schumacher built what was then (1843) the second frame house between Bluffton and Pandora.

From trike to trike, coming full circle

Technically, we own three cars. All three are paid off. Each one has at least 130,000 miles on it. Oddly, each one looks much younger than its age and mileage might suggest -- especially considering that for the most part, they have lived their lives outside our garage. Today one lives in Cincinnati, one in Kent, and one in Bluffton.
