BFR offers several summer programs for all ages

BFR Tball

Summer Tee Ball registration is still open at BFR. Boys who will be ages 5 or 6 and girls who will be ages 5, 6 or 7 by June 1 are welcome to register.
BFR Tee Ball will be held at the Bluffton village park on Tuesday and
Thursday nights beginning July 6 and continuing to Aug. 5. Cost per
child is $30 ($15 BFR member) and includes a team t-shirt.

Hancock County Handbars visits here Sept. 12

It's a ways off, but in September Bluffton will be visited by several hundred bicyclists. Paul Craun of the Hancock County Handibars biking organization, said Bluffton on the final leg of a 100-mile bike event on Sunday, Sept. 12.

The bikers' route starts and ends at The Cube in Findlay. Bikers will leave The Cube at 7 a.m. Using backroads, their 50-mile point is Arlington. Their 75-mile point is Bluffton. In Bluffton, they plan to have a rest break at the village park.

Matthews-Shelly wedding May 29

Kristen and Devon

Kristen Shelly, daughter of Mark and Kathy Shelly of Penfield, N.Y., and Devon Matthews, son of Lawrence and Louise Matthews, Bluffton, were married on Saturday, May 29, 2010.

Randy Keeler of Bluffton, presided over the outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Ontario in Webster, N.Y.

Bridesmaids included the maid-of-honor Karla Nofziger of Archbold, sister Lauren Shelly of Philadelphia, Pa., Holly Nickeson of Rochester, N.Y., and Erin Neufeld Weaver of Bluffton.

New emergency department entrance door installed at hospital this week

Several new construction steps are part of the June 14 Bl;uffton Hospital renovation. Work projects planned this week follow:

* Charles Construction will be installing the new exterior Emergency Department entrance door.

* As they prepare to install the new interior ER entrance door, Facility Services will begin to remove the wall shelves and fixed desk at the former ER Nurse Station.

* The patient monitors will be relocated as a wall mount within the existing Emergency Department.

The HeartCare Center at BVH performs 1,000th PCI

The HeartCare Center at Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH), Findlay, performed its 1,000th percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedure today (June 12).

PCI is a procedure done to open narrowed or blocked arteries in the heart. The procedure can be performed as an elective procedure to help decrease the risk of a heart attack, or can be done during a heart attack to reestablish blood flow to a blocked area of the heart.
