Gertrude "Trudy" Baber worked for Triplett Corporation

Gertrude "Trudy" Baber, 102, passed away June 6, 2024, at the Mennonite Memorial Home. 

Gertrude was born March 30, 1922 in Allen County, to Roy and Margurite (Gunther) Laws who preceded her in death. On June 12, 1941 she married Samuel Baber who preceded her in death on August 29, 1997. 

Trudy graduated from Lima South High School and retired from Triplett Corporation in Bluffton. She was a member of the First Missionary Church in Bluffton and the Bluffton Senior Citizens. She also was active at Ebenezer Mennonite Church of Bluffton. Trudy enjoyed volunteering her time at Bluffton Hospital, the Et Cetera Shop and the Hilty Memorial Home.

Award to fund projects in underserved Ohio Lake Erie Watershed communities

CLEVELAND, OH - May 30, 2024 - Ohio Lake Erie Commission (OLEC) has been selected as one of four recipients of the multi-million dollar Great Lakes Environmental Justice Grant Program awards, aimed at improving environmental outcomes in underserved and overburdened communities within the Great Lakes Basin. The award is part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Bluffton Hospital associates supply day camp meals

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) is supporting Bluffton youth in a partnership that provides meals for the Bluffton Family YMCA Summer Day Camp three days each week. Bluffton Hospital dietary associates have made and donated camp meals for four years.
