Herbert A. Grismore, 95, of Bluffton passed away April 6, 2024 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

March 2024 BHS Student of the Month is Isabella Stechschulte

The March 2024 student of the Month at Bluffton High School is Isabella Stechschulte, a senior with a 4.000 GPA. She is the daughter of Amanda and Bob Stechschulte of Bluffton.

Weekend Doctor: Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a common lung infection caused by germs, such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. It can be a complication following the common cold, flu, COVID-19 infection, sick contact, travel history, exposure to certain farm animals or certain environmental risk factors. 

Pneumonia and its symptoms can vary from mild to severe. Most healthy people recover from pneumonia, but it can be life-threatening for a few. The good news is that pneumonia can be prevented by getting an annual flu and COVID-19 shot (as flu and COVID-19 often lead to pneumonia), and for people at high risk, getting a vaccine for pneumococcal pneumonia, as well as the RSV vaccine.

BPD 2023 Citizens of the Year recall aiding lost little boy

On Easter 2023, Makayla White, Ryan DeMarco and Teri Steinmetz aided a little boy who was lost on South Main St. But the circumstances were unusual. The little fellow refused to speak and was inconsolable. DeMarco hailed a passing Bluffton Police Department cruiser and Officer Abby Michael came to their assistance.
