Handel's Messiah - 114th rendition Sunday in Founders

The Bluffton University music department will present the 114th rendition of Handel's Messiah at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, in Founders Hall. This event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.

Erma M. Arnold, 1919-2009

Erma M. Arnold

Erma M. Arnold, 90, died at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton, at 5:45 a.m., Dec. 3, 2009. She was born March 3, 1919, to John D. and Josie Shaffer Miller in Monroe Township, Allen County. On Nov. 23, 1936, she married Arthur Arnold and he survives.

Jack Michael Faine 1953-2009

Jack Michael Faine, 56 of McKinney, Texas, and formerly of Mt. Cory, Ohio, passed away Nov. 25, 2009.

He was born on March 29, 1953, in Bluffton to John A. and Deane Wells Faine. His mother survives in Mt. Cory. He married June "Tina" (Nelson) Faine and she survives in McKinney, Texas.

He was a 1971 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy.

University professor newly-elected president of Board of Dietetics

Dr. Kay Soltesz, family and consumer sciences department chair at Bluffton University, is the newly-elected president of the Ohio Board of Dietetics for 2010.

Soltesz was appointed to the board in 2006 by Governor Bob Taft for a five-year term. She will officially take office on Jan. 1, 2010.
