Pirate football hammers Bearcats, stays unbeaten

The Bluffton High School football team lambasted Spencerville 56-0 in a Northwest Conference road contest Friday night, September 15, to stay undefeated.

The Pirates raced to a 35-0 halftime lead and cruised to victory. 

Landen Worcester rushed for three touchdowns and 171 yards to pace the potent Pirate ground game, which compiled 414 yards.

LCC to join NWC, Fort Laramie football decision pending

The Northwest Conference and its member schools have announced that Lima Central Catholic High School has accepted an invitation to become a member of the conference in all sports beginning with the 2024-25 school year. Member schools met Wednesday and voted unanimously to extend an invitation to Lima Central Catholic.

This will give the conference 8 full-time members with the pending departures of Ada and Leipsic in 2024-25.

Rockets football strong-arms McComb, 42-14

The Pandora-Gilboa High School football team sent shock waves throughout the Blanchard Valley Conference on Friday, September 16, when they traveled to Doc Miller Field in McComb and beat the #4 state ranked and previously undefeated Panthers. The surprise wasn’t that they won, but how they won; overwhelming McComb (4-1) by a final of 42-14.

One fatal traffic crash on Allen County roadways over Summer 2023

The Lima/Allen County Safe Community Coalition reports there was one fatal traffic crash on Allen County roadways during June, July, and August 2023, a period of
time often referred to as the” 100 Deadlliest Days of Summer.”

Thus far, there have been a total of 7 fatalities on Allen County roadways due to traffic crashes in 2023. In comparison, during 2022 there were 6 fatal crash through August 2022.
