Marie A. Martinson 1921-2010

Marie A. Martinson, 89, Bluffton, died Feb. 17, 2010, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

She was born Jan. 26, 1921, to Roy and Gladys Ream Baum. She married Orval A. Martinson on Sept. 3, 1950, and he survives. She retired from the Triplett Corp., Bluffton.

Survivors in addition to her husband are Sharon Kizer, Beaverdam, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by two brothers, Charles and Edward Baum, and a sister, Mildred Plumber.

Mennonite historian topic of Feb. 26 colloquium

Bluffton University will present Assistant Professor of Communications Zachary Walton's colloquium "Enlarging the Vision: The Constitutive Rhetoric of Guy F. Hershberger" at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall.

Walton's colloquium presentation will be a chapter of his dissertation. Walton is researching the rhetoric of Mennonite history and how the Mennonite community uses stories from their history to reinforce the values and notions of the present day Mennonite community.

Registration deadline March 10 for university immigration conference

The Bluffton University Pathways to Mission and Vocation project will host a conference on immigration, Beyond Borders: The Role of Immigration in a Global Community, March 19-21, on the Bluffton campus,

A little winter music Feb. 28 in Yoder Recital Hall

The Bluffton University Music Department will present the annual Winter Choral Concert on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall. General admission tickets are required. Contact 419-358-3239 or [email protected] for ticket information.

Three choral groups will perform, Accent!, Bluffton's all male chorus directed by Dr. David Sawatzsky and accompanied by Allison Ringold; Bel Canto, Bluffton's all female chorus and Camerata Singers both directed by Judy Hall and accompanied by Anna Stembler-Smith.

Suzan Mitchell drawings on exhibit

Bluffton University art department displays the drawings of Suzan Mitchell

The Bluffton University art department is hosting artist Suzan Mitchell's exhibit "Drawings" through March 5. The exhibit is open to the public in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in the Sauder Visual Arts Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

University music ensembles performs Feb. 23

The Bluffton University music department will present Mosiman Music Magic as part of the Bluffton University Forum series. The Forum is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Yoder Recital Hall. Forum is free and open to the public.

Participants include the Bluffton University members of the Percussion Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble and the Bluffton University Brass Society.
