Bluffton University holds Spiritual Life Week

Registration required for Youth Group Night

Rev. David Glick, a 2007 Bluffton University graduate and pastor of student ministries at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, will reflect on the theme “Be Rooted” during Bluffton University’s fall semester Spiritual Life Week.

    Yoder Recital Hall, “Things I Learned While in College.”
  • Chapel, 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 26
    Marbeck Center’s Bob’s Place

Both events are free and open to the public.

Lou Ann Deitsch was a home health aide

Lou Ann (Hughes) Deitsch, 58, passed away October 20, 2023 at her residence.  Lou Ann was born May 22, 1965 in Findlay to the late Charles and Gloria (Ferrel) Hughes. On November 27, 1999 she married Scott Deitsch who survives.

Lou Ann graduated from Cory-Rawson High School. She had worked as a home health aide for Ada Visiting Nurses and was a homemaker.

An invitation to veterans from Cory Rawson Schools:

Cory-Rawson Local Schools are honored to invite all veterans and a spouse or guest to our Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 6, 2023.  The program is a combined effort of Cory-Rawson’s students and staff and is our way of saying “thank you” for the service and sacrifices our veterans have made in peacetime and in war.

David Hofstetter served in the U.S. Army

David Hofstetter, 90, passed away on October 15, 2023.  He was a resident of the California Veteran’s Home in Chula Vista, California. He was born on February 14,1933 to the late Waldo and Esther (Luginbill) Hofstetter. David grew up in Bluffton, OH and graduated from Bluffton High School in 1951. He entered a partnership with his father to work the Hofstetter family farm for a few years.

Trunk or Treat at Trinity Lutheran on October 31

All are invited to Trinity Lutheran's Trunk or Treat in Jenera on Tuesday, October 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jenera's Trick or Treat is held evening as well.

There will be the Trunk or Treat activities and Hayrides outside, with crafts, sensory bins, games, and cookie and pumpkin decorating inside.

Pirates dominate All-NWC football teams

Worcester NWC Defensive Player of the Year

The second-place Bluffton High School football team placed nine players on the All-Northwest Conference first team in voting conducted Sunday, October 22, by the league coaches.

In all, 16 positions on the all-league first and second teams were filled by Pirates.

Bluffton junior linebacker Landen Worcester was voted NWC Defensive Player of the Year, and was also voted first team All-NWC at running back. He rushed for 1,288 yards and 19 touchdowns on 164 carries this season.

Senior Braeden Jordan was named first team all-league at receiver. He grabbed 16 passes for 391 yards (24.4 yards per catch) and hauled in six TD aerials.

Senior linemen Jacob Granger and Daniel Friedritz were named first team All-NWC on the offensive line.

Place-kicker Kyle Basil was the first team offense specialist. He scored 53 points on point after kicks and field goals this regular season.
