Warning: Phone calls from "local fire departments" is a scam

It has been brought to our attention that an organization is calling
residents of Bluffton and possibly Beaverdam and Richland Township asking
for donations to support your local area fire departments.

Bluffton Fire Department and Beaverdam-Richland Township Fire Department are not affiliated with this organization in any way. If you receive a phone call regarding this issue please attempt to obtain the caller's name and phone number and contact your police department.

Grove student in ONU PR competition

Three Ohio Northern University public relations students, including one from Columbus Grove, are partnering with the 2010 U.S. Census in order to win a national campaign competition.

Allison Gribben, a junior public relations major from East Palestine, Jamienne Scott, a junior public relations and Spanish major from Columbus Grove, and Stephanie Rowe, a junior public relations major from Waldo, are participating in the National Bateman Case Study Competition sponsored by the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Sarah Diller in March 4 recital

Bluffton University students Sarah Diller (Bluffton), soprano, and Brandon Fullenkamp (Wapakoneta), piano, will perform a junior recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the lobby.

Registrations underway for kids' night out

Bluffton University recreation students and intramural staff will host Kid's Night Out from 6-10 p.m. March 20. The event is open to children in grades 1-6.

Kid's Night Out is $12 per child if registered by March 18 and $15 at the door. Families who pre-register more than one child pay $10 per child. The money raised from the event will go toward the recreation department's activities.

African pianist featured at Pearl Bogart Mann memorial recital

Bluffton University will host concert pianist William Chapman Nyaho in the Pearl Bogart Mann Memorial Piano Recital on Feb. 25 as part of the 2009-10 Bluffton University Artist Series. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall. Limited seating is available.
