Bluffton's Motter Metro Park in bloom

By Paula Scott

The Motter Metro Park in Bluffton, one of 15 Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District locations with pathways to explore, has a deceptively modest entrance and description. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Jacomet’s Martial Arts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28. The event will take place at Jacomet’s Martial Arts dojo, 121 S. Main Street (lower level).

The business, which is owned by Tony Jacomet, runs its core program, Gen Yuan Kempo, September through May with multiple classes that group students by age and skill level–from ages as young as 5 through adults.

There is also an age 7-adult family/group evening class, offering busy families an alternative time slot, and an opportunity for parents to train alongside their children.

This year the program is expanding to offer teen/adult classes in Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu and Yoga.

Classes offer detailed instruction with an emphasis on safe training and learning practical skills.
