Pirates at DIII state meet: boys win 3200 relay title; Taber 4th in pole vault

COLUMBUS--Several members of the Bluffton High School track and field teams competed on the first day of the Div. III state meet Friday at Ohio State University in Columbus.

Bluffton’s strong, experienced middle and long distance boys program from cross country and track represented itself well at the meet.

June 6 event by Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area

The Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will host a presentation at 6:00 p.m.on June 6 at the Bluffton Community Garden, 9900 S. Main St., Bluffton.

Free and open to the public, the program will feature Master Gardener Victoria Goddard and a discussion about why native plants are not only beneficial to pollinator insects and hummingbirds, but how to incorporate them into your existing flower beds, and landscape.

After the talk, guests may stick around and talk to other gardeners, and wander around the Community Garden Plots and Monarch Waystation.

Right this way to the June 3 Bluffton Arts & Crafts Festival

The Bluffton Arts & Crafts Festival is a long standing tradition with a new-ish location. The 50th installment of the show, a program of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be set up on June 3 along Riley Creek. Access to the show and parking is located across from Harmon Field on College Ave.

Area family, healthcare providers help a child overcome disability

Can you imagine being six years old and traveling from Burkina Faso in West Africa to northwest Ohio? The distance is over  8,000 miles and travel time is 30 hours. For Francois, the journey is a momentous one for additional reasons. When the Icon met Francois at NWO Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Bluffton he was receiving therapy with Rachel Diller, PT, DPT, and was wearing new braces for clubfoot. In a prior year, he had surgery at the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio for the condition.
