Golden Dragon Acrobats perform March 18

Bluffton University will host the Golden Dragon Acrobats at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 18, in Founders Hall.

The performance is part of the 2009-10 Bluffton University Artist Series. Bluffton will offer a Family Fun Pack of tickets priced at $75 for two adults and up to three children ages 6-18. Children under the age of 5 are free. Single adult general admission tickets are $24 and $18 for seniors.

Colloquium focus on travels to Tibet

Phil Sugden, assistant professor of art, will present "Pages from the Manual on Deconstructing God" at Friday Colloquium at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 19, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. Colloquium is free and open to the public.

The inspiration for Sugden's art exhibit came from reading, formal meditation and his many travels to Tibet and the Himalayas. Sugden also drew inspiration from his time spent in Tibetan monasteries.

Graduate programs open house in Lima

Bluffton University hosts Graduate Programs Open House
Bluffton University will host a Graduate Programs Open House from 4:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at The Meeting Place, located at 220 W. Market Street in Lima, Ohio. Call 1.800.488.3257, option 4, for more information.

Ted Bible, director of the adult and graduate education office at Bluffton, says "This is a convenient opportunity for Lima area residents to learn about the options available at Bluffton which will enable them to earn a masters degree."

Two university students hold senior art exhibit

The Bluffton University art department will feature the original artwork of two senior students, Victoria Henkle and Ashley Martin, March 15-26. The exhibit is open to the public in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in the Sauder Visual Arts Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

A reception with the artists will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 21 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery.

Accounting, the IRS and New Year's Eve

Numbers scare me. Math scares me. The IRS scares me. April 15 scares me. You get the picture...the tax man cometh every year and every year I remember exactly why I did not pursue a career in accounting.

When our kids were babies, we'd tuck them into bed on New Year's Eve with the help of Reema, our then college-age friend/nanny/godmother. Not that we couldn't have put them to bed without her help, but the fact is, we -- Fred -- couldn't do the taxes without her.
