Eugene Fett worked for Phillips Manufacturing

Eugene “Gene” A. Fett, 85, passed away October 9, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. 

Gene was born June 30, 1938 in Beaverdam to Carl and Geneva (Basinger) Fett who preceded him in death. On May 18, 1963 he married Geraldine "Gerry" (Freeman) Fett who survives.

CNB to host 2024 economic forecast presentations

Beginning Friday, October 20, Citizens National Bank will host a series of free seminars featuring economist Robert J. Morgan.

Local business owners are invited to hear Morgan present his economic forecast for 2024. He will discuss current market conditions and what he expects to see in regards to unemployment, housing and the challenges facing business owners in the upcoming year.

Bluffton community policing efforts recognized with honor from Ohio Chiefs of Police

The Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Foundation has recognized the Bluffton Police Department as the October 2023 Agency of the Month. Outstanding community policing efforts are highlighted by the agency's “Sharing Ohio’s Best” program, an opportunity to promote positive policing.

The agency’s Community Relations and Engagement committee states, “Chief Burkholder and his team have certainly used creativity and relationships to build upon their community policing strategy. They have successfully incorporated a variety of programs for all age groups in their community…. We applaud Chief Burkholder and his agency for their hard work, but we also commend the entire community for accepting quality police programming as a part of the fabric of where they live, work and play.”

Village reports on paving, water leak detection, hydrant flushing

At the Monday, Octobrer 9 meeting of the Bluffton council, the village administration provided the attached 1-page summary of current infrastructure projects and planning for 2024.

  • Hydrant flushing is underway. If you see discolored water, run an outside tap until water runs clear. 
  • Aqua-Line leak detection found leaks on Luise Circle, Wilhelm Circle, Ethan Circle and Magnolia Lane.
  • Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 11-13, new asphalt surface, centerlines and edge lines will be installed on SR 103.

Reminder: Trick or Treat night is Thursday, Oct 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. Please turn on your porch light if you are participating.

Parking restrictions on Main St. due to paving, October 11-13

No parking on Main St between Bentley Rd and Jefferson St.
Wednesday, October 11-Friday, October 13

From the Office of The Village Administrator
There will be no parking on Main Street from Bentley Rd to Jefferson St beginning Wednesday October 11th through Friday October 13th. This restriction is in place to allow the paving of Main St to be completed. Please use side streets and the lots in the rear of the business district for parking during these times. If you have questions, please contact Administrator Blackburn. Instructions:

Move vehicles to private residences, side streets, or municipal lots behind business district.

Garage Sale at Ebenezer Mennonite, October 12

A one-day Garage Sale will be held at Ebenezer Mennonite on Thursday, October 12 from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

All donations benefit the youth mission trip. There will be lots of antiques, decorations, etc.

The sale is located n the schoolhouse across from the church at 8905 Columbus Grove Road.
