Beaver baseball recap April 2

DEFIANCE--The Bluffton University baseball team swept a pair of games at rival Defiance College on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Bluffton improved to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the Heartland Conference with its third and fourth straight victories.

Beaver softball recap April 2

KALAMAZOO, Mich.--The Bluffton University softball team capped its week in Michigan off with a pair of setbacks at the hands of Kalamazoo College on a cold Sunday, April 2, 2023. The Hornets improved to 10-8 on the season, while Bluffton fell to 10-10 following the non-conference sweep.

Ohio prospective plantings report from USDA NASS

Ohio farmers intend to plant more corn and the same soybean acreage in 2023 than they did last year, according to the USDA NASS, Great Lakes Regional Field Office.

Ohio corn producers intend to plant 3.45 million acres this spring, up 1 percent from last year. Ohio soybean acreage is forecast at 5.10 million acres for 2023, unchanged from last year. Hay acreage for 2023 is estimated at 820 thousand acres, down 1 percent from 2022. This includes alfalfa, grain, and all other types of hay intended to be harvested for dry hay.

Men's Golf
The Bluffton University men's golf team tied for 3rd place at the Bluffton Spring Invite on Sunday, April 2. With the blustery winds and hail from Saturday in the rearview mirror, the Beavers showed out with a 300 on Sunday. The 12-over par established a new school mark for 18 holes.
