BHS girls soccer shuts out Ada, Diller nets 3 goals

The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team crushed league rival Ada 9-0 in a Northwest Conference match Monday night under the lights at War Memorial Park Stadium.

The one-sided win upped the Pirate record to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in NWC play to keep them in first place. Meanwhile, the Bulldog girls fell to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in NWC action with their sixth straight defeat.

Neither team scored for the first 16 minutes. Katie Sizemore made a diving save for Ada at the 24-minute mark.

‘Julius Caesar’ opens Freed Center season on Sept. 29

ADA--The Freed Center for the Performing Arts will open its slate of theatre, dance and music events for the 2022-2023 season with Shakespeare's epic political tragedy of Julius Caesar staged in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, and 2 p.m. matinees on Oct. 1 and 2.

Mornings with Mommy and Pre-school Playtime in Jenera

Mornings with Mommy is a fun and easy way for you to enjoy activities with your infant through kindergarten age children (ages 0-6 years) and meet other moms. Dads, grandmas, grandpas, and nannies are welcome, too. These educational play-dates will began in September and will continue on the first and third Monday and Tuesday of each month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera.

Elementary School 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Middle School and High School 6:00-7:00

Elephant ear thrives with family's TLC

The elephant ear plant is a tropical perennial, but you might be fooled into thinking it likes Ohio weather, too. A big, beautiful specimen can be found in Janette and Sam Reineke's yard on S. Main St. The plant is a family heirloom that belonged to Sam's mother. It is planted and dug up every year.

Community invited to First UMC photo day

Bluffton First United Methodist Church is inviting the community to a photo day on Monday, Oct 17 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct 18 from 3:00-8:00 p.m.

All are welcome to come and get a family or individual photo taken; you do not have to be church members or be included the directory. Participants will receive a free 8x10 photo just for coming, no purchase necessary. Options will be available to order prints that should all arrive in time for Christmas.
