Promotions awarded to Bowers and Crow of Findlay OSHP

On June 5, Staff Lieutenant William N. Bowers was promoted to the rank of captain by Colonel Richard S. Fambro, Patrol superintendent. Captain Bowers will remain in his current assignment to serve as commander of the Findlay District Headquarters.

Gulick named new coach at Bluffton University

Bluffton University has named Connor Gulick as head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach. Gulick returns to Bluffton following two years of collegiate coaching experience at Heidelberg University. He also previously served as a volunteer assistant coach at Utica High School in summer 2019.

Magic mushrooms

In the 1960s, social upheaval related to wars and political issues about race and gender fueled political activism. This decade also brought about a psychedelic drug-using counterculture that believed there was better living through chemistry. These psychedelic drugs included lysergic acid diethylamide commonly referred to as LSD and magic mushrooms containing psilocybin.

Bike Rodeo is back on July 23

Bluffton’s bike rodeo is back with Officer Hope Hannah and Bike Crazy LLC providing the expertise necessary to teach riders in grades K-5 bicycling rules of the road and skills, and to check participants’ bikes for the “ABCs” of safety: Air, Brakes and Chains.

St. Mary Catholic Church to host Catholicism classes

Fr. Luyen Dau, will be offering a class on Catholicism beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 and continuing each Wednesday for six weeks.

Classes will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 160 N. Spring St.

During this class there will be a DVD series by Bishop Robert Barron shown each week with a question and answer period following. A half-hour social time with refreshments will follow.
