Jerry Suter guest speaker at Nov. 2 Lions Club meeting

The Bluffton Lions Club have a busy November. At the club's Tuesday, Nov. 2, meeting, Jerry Suter of Suter's Produce is the speaker. The meeting is at 11:50 a.m., at Maple Crest.

On Saturday, Nov. 6, club members will volunteer for landscaping and clean up of the Bluffton Public Library lawn.

Lynn Ritter is the speaker at the Tuesday, Nov. 16, meeting. Lynn is from the Alzheimer's Association and will talk on "Understanding Dementia." The meeting is at 11:50 a.m. at Maple Crest.

First National Bank receives Bauer's 5-star "superior" rating

First National Bank of Pandora announced that it has been awarded a 5-Star ("Superior") Rating from Bauer Financial, Inc., an independent bank rating company. Bauer's 5-Star Rating, their highest performance ranking, represents an independent, unbiased analysis of a financial institution's safety and soundness position. Bauer has been analyzing and reporting the financial condition of the nation's banking industry since 1983.

Black-bellied whistling-duck, rare to Ohio, spotted at the Buckeye

A duck very rare to Ohio was spotted at the Buckeye on Oct. 26 and has apparently remained near the quarry this week. The bird is a Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, according to Linda Houshower, who has been watching the bird.

This duck has only been seen in the state four or five times. It lives in Texas, Florida and Louisiana.

Linda says that it's very cooperative and fun to see with its bright red bill, it can't be missed. Birdwatchers from across Ohio are coming to see it.

Kathleen A. Evilsizer 1928-2010

Kathleen A. Evilsizer

Kathleen A. Evilsizer, 82, Bluffton, died at 7:42 a.m., Oct. 31, 2010 at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton. She was born July 29,1928, to John T. and Margaret E. (Woods) Moran in Lincolnshire, England. On June 13, 1952, she married James S. Evilsizer and he died Nov. 29, 1992.

She was a homemaker and member of the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.
