Archbold potter to display work at in Sauder

An exhibition of ceramics by Mark Nafziger, resident potter at Archbold's Sauder Museum and Craft Village, will open Sunday, Aug. 29, in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Bluffton University's Sauder Visual Arts Center.

The exhibit, which continues through Sept. 27, is free and open to the public, as are a reception with Nafziger from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 17 and a studio demonstration by the artist from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 27. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

New gospel choir seeks members on and off university campus

Dr. Crystal Sellers has been singing gospel music practically her whole life, starting at the church founded by her grandfather in her native Columbus.

So it shouldn't be too surprising that she is now organizing a gospel choir in Bluffton, where she has joined the Bluffton University faculty as an assistant professor of music.

Author to help welcome Bluffton class of 2014

Christopher Haw, co-author of the 2008 book Jesus for President, will be the featured speaker Tuesday, Aug. 31, as Bluffton University welcomes the class of 2014 to campus at its annual opening convocation. With faculty in regalia looking on, about 275 new first-year and transfer students will be introduced during the ceremony, which begins at 10:45 a.m. in Founders Hall.

Taylor Steele's Eagle Scout project at the Buckeye

Taylor Steele organized scouts, leaders and families from Bluffton BSA Troop #256 to work on his Eagle Scout Project at The Buckeye June 4 through June 8.

The project, coordinated with the Village of Bluffton, included cleaning and painting (inside and out) of the public restroom facility. The project also included mulching around the Buckeye and other trees along the path on the north side of the Buckeye.

They attended Webelos Resident Camp

Bluffton Webelos Scouts Kaden Reneker and Christian Groman attended the Webelos Resident Camp at Camp Berry July 11 to 14. The scouts enjoyed camping, hiking, swimming, building and launching a rocket, climbing the tower, learning Indian Lore, archery and BB target shooting.
