Farmers market season opens May 6

Saturday mornings in Bluffton will soon sport an added opportunity to shop local: the opening of the Bluffton Farmers Market on Saturday, May 6. This year the market will be open from 8:00 a.m.-noon., giving us an added half hour of shopping.

Unofficial results for May 2 Allen County election

Ballot issues and rainy weather were among the influences on voters on Tuesday, May 2 when 10.35% of Allen County registered voters cast in person and absentee ballots. The following unofficial results have been reported by the Allen County Board of Elections.

In Bluffton, 275 YES votes were cast in favor of the Proposed (Resolution) Gas Aggregation, 39 NO votes were cast against the measure.

Friday, May 26

FINDLAY- Spring marks the return of bats to the park. We will start out in front of the Activity Barn where we will talk about bats and watch them leave the bat boxes. Then we will hike in the park in search of bats and other nocturnal animals.

Winners announced for LSO Young Artist Competition

On April 29, the Friends of the Symphony hosted the 61st annual “Young Artists Competition” in Yoder Recital Hall on the campus of Bluffton University. The competition featured woodwind, brass, and piano performers. Cash awards were presented to eight finalists after a finalist concert was held that evening. The eight finalists were:

Hancock County Taps seeking local musicians

Hancock County Taps – Honoring Those Who Served, a new local program with the goal of ensuring a live rendition of Taps at Hancock County military funerals, is actively seeking local musicians to help honor local veterans. The program represents a collaboration between the Hancock Leadership Class of ’23, the Hancock County Veteran Services Office, and Hancock County Taps founder Carl Hayslett.

Brianna Taber signs letter of intent with Ashland University

On May 2, Bluffton High School senior Brianna (Bri) Taber signed a letter of intent to join the Ashland University Track and Field team in Pole Vault. The signing took place in the Bluffton High School gym.

Last season, Bri finished second in Ohio's Northwest Conferece, 2nd at regionals, and 8th in the Pole Vault at the State meet.

She is currently the Bluffton High School school record holder with a jump of 11’6.” During the 2023-2024 academic year at Ashland she plans to major in Biology/Pre-Med.
