Council okays 2 legislation pieces by emergency on July 28

Bluffton council passed by emergency one ordinance and one resolution on July. Ordinance 22 authorizes the village solicitor to sign the petition requesting the common pleas court to establish a conservancy district known as the Blanchard Watershed Conservancy District. Still time to enter George Frazee golf outing

Entries are still being accepted to the 3rd annual George H. Frazee III Golf Outing. The 18-hole, 4-person scramble is Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Bluffton Golf Club.

The scramble has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The purpose of the scramble is to continue support of the George H. Frazee III Bluffton University Scholarship Fund.

Entry is $60 per person and $240 per team. Persons wanting more information may contact the Bluffton Golf Club, 8575 N. Dixie Highway, Bluffton.

Former lifeguard has questions about the swimming pool

I used to be a lifeguard at the pool and recently re-visted it. There were quite a few changes. There were new ID passes and no longer a concession stand but vending machines. New shade structures and lounge chairs, but no heater or wading pool. It was great to see a new lifeguard chair in the zero depth area.

Both boards were still in sue, which is unusual in this day and age and the slide was packed.

Dr. James Davidson opens orthopaedics clinic at Bluffton Hospital

Dr.James Davidson

Ohio Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Findlay, announced this week that Dr. James Davidson is now accepting patients at Bluffton Hospital.

His special interests include sports-related injuries, upper extremities, carpal tunnel release and total joint repair. Dr. Davidson's Orthopaedic Clinic will be open each Monday morning at the Bluffton Hospital.

Another familiar face on the mural

The late John Badertscher is among the new faces on the Oscar Velasquez mural on Main Street. Badertscher was a life-long Bluffton resident and may be remembered best as a custodian at First Mennonite Church and Citizens National Bank.

Storm warning from AEP

AEP Ohio has provided the following storm warning information: The combination of an approaching cold front and a very warm, humid unstable air mass is triggering a line of severe thunderstorm to develop over Michigan. At 2pm EDT...radar indicated a line of rapidly developing severe thunderstorms from northwest of Detroit, to just
north of South Bend. This line of storms will move southeast this afternoon and impact northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. Wind gusts of 50-60 mph can be expected with the stronger thunderstorms.
