"All the President's Men" November library book discussion

BLUFFTON BOOK DISCUSSION SLATED

Bluffton Public Library's monthly book discussion will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17. "All the President's Men" is the selected title for November's discussion. The book discussion will be held at Common Grounds Coffeehouse & Caf'e.

This book was written by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, two journalists for the Washington Post. They broke the story of the Watergate scandal to the public in such a way that they were threatened for doing so.

Nov. 2 is voting day in Bluffton. The general election takes place. No local issues or races are on the ballot; only state races. This photo was taken on election day morning.

Kendra Nickel scheduling lia sophia shows for holidays

Kendra Nickel

Kendra Nickel, 99 Sally Lane, Bluffton, a lia sophia in-home fashion jewelry advisor, is now scheduling fashion jewelry shows in time for the holiday season. Nickel lived in Bluffton from 1992 to 2001 and moved back this summer.

She said that lia sophia is a direct selling company that offers fashion jewelry through personalized in-home demonstrations.

Emmanuel UCC fish fry Nov. 12

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 N. Phillips Road, will hold its annual fish fry. The event is from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, at the church.

The menu includes home made food and fish. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for youth 11 and under.

A very rare duck

What's the big deal about this little guy? For starters, he's waaaaaay off course. This black-bellied whistling duck is native to the Gulf Coast. What he's doing in the Buckeye Quarry is anyone's guess. The Icon found him on the Main Street side of the Buckeye.
