All I wanted was a day-old roll from the bakery

All I wanted was a one-day-old roll from The Dough Hook.

But, it became much more complicated than that last Saturday. Complicated for several reasons. For starters, I forgot to take my pills, so I stopped into Common Grounds for a quick jolt. Was planning on informing Phil Zimmerly that his chamber renewal was up.

Being the end of the month he and one other guy started moaning about bills due on the 31st. So, I kept my mouth shut.

Sentencing on sexual assault case

Bluffton police report the suspect conviction and closure of a 2009 sexual assault investigation, according to Rick Skillier, Bluffton police chief.

Police were contacted in July, 2009, to investigate allegations of some form of sexual activity between a female juvenile and a 19-year-old male. The investigation led to a five count indictment of Jeremy L. Perrine, 19. Each of the five counts was for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, with all counts being fourth degree felonies.

Indiana scholar discusses Whitman's America Feb. 16

Scott Holland, professor of theology and culture and director of peace studies at Bethany Theological Seminary located in Richmond, Ind., will present Entering Whitman's America: A Theopoetics of Public Life at Bluffton University's Forum Series at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Founders Hall. Forum is free and open to the public.

Music career day Feb. 15 at Bluffton University

Bluffton University will host a Careers in Music Day for high school students from 8:45 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15. This is a special day designed for students interested in Bluffton's music program.

High school students will sit in on classes, take a short complimentary private lesson, visit with music faculty and participate in a music ensemble rehearsal. This workshop will identify the diverse musical career opportunities available to students. All events are held on the Bluffton University campus. Registration is required by Feb. 12.
