Rural Bluffton man to serve jail time for assault

In an October 24 article, The Lima News reported that a rural Bluffton man was sentenced for felonious assault following a May 14 incident in Putnam County. Derek Butcher pled no contest to the charges and received a 60-day jail sentence and five years probation.

Bluffton girls soccer shuts out rival Mustangs in district semis

The Bluffton girls soccer team scored a pair of dagger first-half goals and made them stand up in a 2-0 win over visiting local rival Allen East in Div. III district semifinal action Tuesday night at Steinmetz Field.

On an unseasonably warm night in front of a big crowd, the Pirates tallied the first goal with 13:12 left in the first half. The hosts then added a deflating goal just 5.1 ticks before intermission to take a commanding two-goal lead into halftime.

Lou Ann Deitsch was a home health aide

Lou Ann (Hughes) Deitsch, 58, passed away October 20, 2023 at her residence.  Lou Ann was born May 22, 1965 in Findlay to the late Charles and Gloria (Ferrel) Hughes. On November 27, 1999 she married Scott Deitsch who survives.

Lou Ann graduated from Cory-Rawson High School. She had worked as a home health aide for Ada Visiting Nurses and was a homemaker.
