Howard Roy Eckenwiler 1944-2010

Howard Eckenwiler

Howard Roy Eckenwiler, 66, Beaverdam, died Feb. 27, 2010, at his residence. He was born Feb. 11, 1944, to Roy and Georgene (Bishop) Eckenwiler. He married Marlene Vorhes in 1991 and she survives.

Mr. Eckenwiler retired from Consolidated Biscuit of McComb. He was a member of the American Legion Post 382, Bluffton. He was a 1962 graduate of Beaverdam High School and was valedictorian of his class.

A laugh a day

I married my husband because a.) he made me laugh; b.) he liked to do the dishes, c.) he got a 100 percent approval rating from all four of my brothers and d.) he was as weird as I was.

Okay, so there were other reasons. He was kind of cute. He liked to go shopping. To malls. He was cheaper than I was. And oh yeah, there was that little thing called love.

Funeral services for Chris Bricker on Wednesday

Chris Bricker

Christopher Jay Bricker, 38, Columbus Grove, died at 10:33 p.m., Feb. 26, 2010, in St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born April 21, 1971 in Lima to Jay and Pam (Morton) Bricker. On Aug. 13, 1994, he married Tracie Best and she survives.

Mr. Bricker had worked at Grob Systems, Inc., Bluffton, as a fabricator. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. He was a member of the Eagles, Columbus Grove. He coached his sons in midget football and wrestling. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School.

The first-ever Friday morning "Coffee with the Chamber" attracted over a dozen members to Common Grounds on Feb. 26.
