Flutist wins first Mosiman young artist prize

Flutist Kristen Shelly, a Bluffton University senior from Penfield, N.Y., won the first Mosiman Young Artist Competition at Bluffton's recent Bach Festival.

A $100 cash prize accompanied the title for Shelly, a sociology major who was also the Audience Choice winner. She was one of three finalists chosen by faculty to perform at the concert that concluded the festival, hosted by the university's music department.

The other finalists were clarinetist Alycia Althaus, a senior from Findlay, and soprano Kristin Beckman, a sophomore from Ottawa.

All village Internet service turned off on Sunday

All Internet service in Bluffton will be turned off on Easter Sunday as a precaution against potential wireless router damage. The blackout will occur from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m, Sunday, April 4, according to officials who have planned the event.

When no Internet service available, some Internet addicts will search for hot spots in the village that may be high enough on ground to pick up signals, although it is doubtful that many areas will be discovered.
