Chase bank's parking lot is getting clean shave this week. Grinders were at work on Sunday on the old blacktop of the South Main Street bank. Work should be completed this week.

Ebenezer Mennonite caters Thursday's community meal

The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association community meals continue in August at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. August's meals are Thursday, Aug. 5, catered by Ebenezer Mennonite Church, and Thursday, Aug. 19, catered by Emmanuel United Church of Christ.The meals are free and open to the public and begin at 6 p.m. Donations are accepted. Those donations support the Bluffton Food Pantry.

Tuesday Town Hall Concert opens with Matt Keeler

Trent Wagler and The Steel Wheels will perform at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, in the Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series.The concert opens with Bluffton's own Matt Keeler performing.

The performance is on the third floor of the town hall.The band performs American Roots and Bluegrass. The group is from Shenandoah Valley and are on tour after performing at the Riverfolk Festival near Ann Arbor, Mich.

Bluffton Child Development Center accepting student applications now

Bluffton Child Development Center is now accepting applications for the upcoming school year, according to Mary Painter, director.

Classes are available for preschool, Pre-Kindergarten as well as before and after school programming.

"Our Program meets all the state standards for learning. Lets us help prepare your child for a bright acadimic future," said Painter.

Ron Leatherman 1941-2010

Ron Leatherman

Ronald Joe Leatherman , 69 of Portland, Tenn., died Aug. 1, 2010. He was born March 18, 1941.

He is preceded in death by parents, Rollin and Naomi Leatherman. Mr. Leatherman is survived by wife of 45 years, Helen Geiger Leatherman; daughters, Tina Leatherman of Portland, Tenn., and Tisha Sturm of Allensville, Ky.

Other survivors are brothers, David (Dorinda) Leatherman of Tupelo, Miss., and Gene (Nancy) Leatherman of Arlington, Ohio; grandchildren, Shelby, Jennah and Madellee Sturm of Allensville, Ky.
