Rudi: Don't tell the old man that Ford is dropping Mercurys

Once upon a time (in the days of vehicle brand loyalty) my old man drove nothing but Kaisers or Frazers. Back in the early 1950s one of them even had a rear window wiper, as I recall. These were the most beautiful machines a pre-school boy could ever imagine.

BVRCC host to international art show June 7-11

The Lilly Oncology International Art Competition and Exhibition will make a five-day stop at the Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC), Findlay, from June 7 through June 11.

The show will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to noon on Friday. It is free and open to the public.

The Lilly Oncology International Art Competition and Exhibition features artwork created by cancer patients and their caregivers. Artwork includes acrylic, oil, pastel, photography and water color mediums.

BHS boys' June 14-17 bball camp registration underway

Bluffton Pirate boys' basketball camp, involving skills, competitions and lots of fun is set for June, according to Todd Boblitt, BHS varsity coach.

The camp is Monday to Thursday, June 14-17. Boys entering grades 3 to 6 have camp from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Boys entering grades 7 and 8 have camp from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Camp cost is $25 and each participant will receive a basketball and t-shirt. Persons may mail checks or cash to 310 W. Riley St. Bluffton, OH 45817,

Big Brother Big Sister golf event June 12 at Hidden Creek Golf Course

A limited number of team spots remain for the 2010 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Allen County Golf For Kids' Sake fundraiser, according to Fred Steiner, marketing director for the event.

This year's event is held Saturday, June 12, at Hidden Creek Golf Club, 6245 Sugar Creek Road, Lima. The event begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Entry fees are $220 per team, which includes golf for four, carts, drink tickets and Mulligans. The event also has a $200 first place payout with second and third and highest score prizes.
