August 10 event to raise funds for Dominic Francis Memorial scholarships

On Saturday, August 10, the first annual Dominic Francis Memorial Bike and Jeep Run will take place, starting the Bluffton Fallen Officer Monument, 154 N. Main St. and ending at the Findlay Moose Lodge #698, 1028 W Main Cross St #2421. Stops will be made at Thirsty's and Stockyard.

The cost is $25/bike or jeep, $5/rider. Registration includes a meal at the end of the ride. There will also be a 50/50 and raffle items.

Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and kick stands go up at noon.

Bluffton hosts 56th Festival of Wheels

The 2024 Festival of Wheels, hosted by the Bluffton Lions Club, takes place on Friday, June 14. Registered cars will begin parking on Main St. at 1:00 p.m. The show includes cars, trucks, motorcycles, commerical vehicles and tractors. Awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m.

Ohio Camp Farthest Out meets in Bluffton

Ohio Camp Farthest Out (CFO) will hold evening services June 17-20 in The Kreider Room of Marbeck Center. The public is invited.

MHCO sells Hilty building to Village of Pandora

The Board of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) has announced the sale of the Hilty Home building, 304 Hilty Dr., to the Village of Pandora, Ohio. The sale was completed on June 4 and includes the 60,000-square-foot former Hilty Memorial Home building and two adjacent parcels of land donated to the Village by MHCO.

A Change Is Gonna Come: Vaccines update

In 1964, Sam Cooke wrote the powerful soul ballad A Change Is Gonna Come.  Rolling Stone magazine listed this song at number 3 of their top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.  

Some significant changes are coming for vaccines including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), flu and COVID-19. 

On May 3, 2023, the FDA approved the GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) RSV vaccine with the brand name of Arexvy.  The vaccine was approved for those 60 years of age and up to prevent RSV lower lung infection.  The GSK vaccine is a recombinant subunit of prefusion RSV F glycoprotein antigen (RSVPreF3) with an adjuvant to enhance vaccine response.
