University launches Mediation Works! project with $10,000 grant

Mediation Works! This is the message of Bluffton University's new project to help educate the regional community about Bluffton's mediation program.

Bluffton University spring enrollment up; best in several years

Bluffton University's spring enrollment figures are now official. This spring, 1,086 students are enrolled compared to 1,055 last year. The spring semester enrollment is the best in several years and is due in part to 35 new traditional students starting this spring. In addition, graduate student enrollment sets a new record with 130 students.

"Bluffton is very gratified to experience such a strong spring semester enrollment during this challenging economic time," said Dr. Eric Fulcomer, vice president for enrollment management and student life.

Let's dance on Feb. 27

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) and Findlay NOW Magazine will co-host Findlay's second annual Day of Dance on Saturday, Feb, 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The University of Findlay Koehler Center.

The event will combine the fun of different styles of dance, such as ballroom, line dancing, Bollywood, and Zumba, with health screenings and education on heart disease and other women's health issues. Other features will include free product samples, shopping and a fashion show.

BVH Lab Certified by Ohio Department of Health

The Blanchard Valley Hospital Laboratory has received its annual certification to perform alcohol testing for legal purposes from the Ohio Department of Health Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Testing.

Test results supplied by the BVH Lab can be used as evidence in court cases like those that take place in Hancock County and surrounding counties.

And now for a little gospel music history

Dr. Crystal Sellers, assistant professor of music, will present "From Congregational to Urban Crossover: The Faces and Sounds of Gospel Music," 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall as part of Bluffton University's Friday Colloquium Series. The event is free and open to the public.

Sellers' presentation will discuss gospel music and gospel singing from the creation of the style to the present. Many popular gospel composers and singers will be presented.
