University artist series offers wide assortment of entertainment; tickets on sale Aug. 2

The Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival

Tickets go on sale Monday, Aug. 2, for the 2010-11 Bluffton University Artist Series, featuring performers from Cleveland to Croatia and sights and sounds from Russian to percussion.

WIC and Lima parks hold "walk in the park" Aug. 7

The Allen County WIC office and Lima Parks and Recreation Department will hold a "Walk in the Park," in August, according to Lori Nester.

The event is from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 7, at Faurot Park shelter house number 2, in Lima.

The activity is in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week.

Participants may take a stroll around the one-quarter mile path, visit displays and information tables of a variety of organizations and businesses that serve families.

Christie's on the Square, Columbus Grove, hosts Alzheimer's fund raiser

On Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Christie's on the Square, 101 S. High Street, Columbus Grove, and the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter will raise funds for local community individuals, families and friends suffering from Alzheimer's disease or another related memory loss disorder.

Resident travels to Colombia on fact-finding delegation

Beth Kuntz, a junior and Spanish Education major at Bluffton University from Covington, Ohio, traveled to Colombia on Wednesday, July 14, as part of a delegation sponsored by Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT).

Based in the oil-refining city of Barrancabermeja, the delegation will visit and support the Colombian Women's Social Movement Against War and for Peace.
