Icon holiday on Labor Day weekend

Are you working for the weekend?

On Labor Day Weekend, September 2-4, the Bluffton Icon and Ada Icon will take a holiday break Saturday-Sunday, except for breaking news, sports and obituaries.

Pirate boys soccer nips Sylvania in extra time / 2023 team roster

ELIDA--The Bluffton High School boys soccer team beat Sylvania Northview 3-2 in overtime on penalty kicks Saturday evening in the annual Elida Kickoff Classic.

The original semifinal match was postponed from Thursday evening due to extreme heat and humidity.

The winning shoot-out goal came from Cole Burkholder and the Pirates' two regulation goals both came from Theo Andreas.

Reminder: Public hearing and Bluffton Council meeting, August 28

6:30 P.M. - PUBLIC HEARING

The Village of Bluffton has received a petition from the Village Administrator to vacate portions of Thurman St, a public alley and other publicly-owned land found within and bordering the Municipal Parking Lot. A public hearing will be held before the Streets, Alleys, Lights & Sidewalks Committee of Village Council.

7:00 P.M. - COUNCIL MEETING

The attached preliminary AGENDA has been issued by the Village of Bluffton for the August 28 regular council meeting, which takes place on the third floor of Bluffton Town Hall.

The meeting will include comments from Brian Wildermuth of the Lima/Allen County RTA.

Pirate cross country opens season at DSJ Invite

DELPHOS – The Bluffton High School cross country teams opened their season at the Delphos St. John’s Blue Jay Invitational meet Saturday at Stadium Park.

The Bluffton girls finished sixth out of 10 teams with 146 points.

Adult coed sand volleyball all-nighter, September 9

The Bluffton Family Recreation-YMCA and Southgate Lanes are hosting an adult coed sand volleyball all-nighter on Saturday, September 9.

  • Double elimination, best of 3
  • Games to 15 straight (no win by 2)
  • Maximum 3 men/team
  • Limited spots
  • Deadline to register September 5
  • $100/team

Start time will depend on the number of teams; probably 5:00-6:00 p.m. Ages 18 years and up.

Thomas M. Craig was a U.S. Air Force veteran

Thomas "Thom" M. Craig, 74, passed away August 26, 2023, at Mennonite Memorial Home.

Thomas was born June 8, 1949 in Lima to Paul and Helen (Corderman) Craig who preceded him in death. On June 20, 1970 he married Cheryl (Craven) Craig who survives.
