Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio, which has an office in Bluffton, is in need of volunteers to help once or twice a week. The Bluffton office is located in English Lutheran Church, Grove St.

Volunteers greet clients, assist new clients with basic intake paperwork, answer phones, take messages, and provide safety for clients and staff by preventing them from being in the office alone.

St. John's United Church of Christ will observe Bright Sunday on May 1 (Holy humor Sunday), according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor of the congregation.

"We at St. John's United Church of Christ, along with many other congregations around the world, recognize the important, but often overlooked, sacred gifts of laughter and joy," she said.

Lent services continue this week for several Bluffton churches. This week's schedule follows (Wednesday through Sunday, April 13 to 17). Palm Sunday is April 17.
