Jose Adan Ortiz, 70, of Bluffton died Jan. 22, 2017, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.,  Saturday,  Feb. 4, at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.  Arrangements are under the direction of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Helen Winkler, 90, of Bluffton died Jan. 22, 2017 at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Most Icon viewers aren’t aware that former Bluffton council member Morris Groman once saved the Village of Bluffton $4,000 in federal fines, plus lots and lots of headaches and embarrassments.

Most people think of Morris Groman as a polite, quiet guy, which of course, he was.

He used this persona to get things accomplished and it worked. Here’s an example.

Bluffton defeated Pandora-Gilboa in girls' basketball, 57-34. The Pirates were led by Alivia Koenig's 25 points, and today scored her 100th career 3 pointer. The Rockets were led by Brittney Hovest, with 10 points.

BHS and Bluffton College graduate was active in several community organizations

Morris Joseph Groman, 87, died Jan. 20, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Bluffton Hospital surrounded by his family and friends after a brief illness with acute myeloid leukemia. 

Morris was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Tiffin to the late Oliver J. and Esther M. (Gromann) Groman.  On July 3, 1955, he married Carol Sammet Groman who survives.

Morris graduated from Bluffton High School in 1947 and from Bluffton College in 1951.  He was an Army veteran, serving as a Petroleum Products Laboratory Technician in Pusan, Korea in 1953.

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University thinclads traveled to Tiffin University to compete in the Dragon Open invitational. Again this week in a predominately Division 2 and NAIA scholarship-granting field, the Beavers showed their grit.
