Bluffton University art students will display art they have created on campus during their senior exhibition, from March 9-20 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center.

Showing their best work from four years of study and studio time are Jill Bornhorst, an art major from Fort Loramie, Ohio; graphic design majors Isaac Schumacher and Gregory Seymour, from Bluffton and Orrville, Ohio, respectively; and Luz Varela, an art and writing major from Goshen, Ind.

Marilyn Joanne Lansing, 88, died on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. at her son’s residence in Ada.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1926, in Lima, Ohio to Clarence and Dolly (Adams) Tyree and they preceded her in death. On Aug. 13, 1949, she married Charles Lansing and he died on March 13, 1997.

She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Triplett Electric for 14 years. She was a member of the Ada Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God.

Surviving is a son, Richard (Diane) Lansing of Ada; three grandchildren Kathy, Mike and Sara; and a great granddaughter, Payton.

A committal service tor Kathleen Konst, 92, who died Dec. 15, 2014, at Willow Ridge, Bluffton will begin at 1 p.m.,  March 7, 2015 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.

Dr. Jo Beth Gonzalez has been involved in theatre education for over 20 years. Based on her experiences, the Bowling Green (Ohio) High School drama teacher believes that the stage makes for the perfect platform to spread awareness of social issues.

“Drama may be the most successful portal for creating a safe space for honest dialogue among young people,” Gonzalez said during a Feb. 24 forum at Bluffton University.

Bluffton council will hear recommendations from its street, alleys, lights and sidewalk committee on Monday.

Those committees met on Feb. 26 and the following information from that meeting is in the Monday council packet at the bottom of this story.

Here’s a summary as it affects sidewalks:
Inspection reports were filled out on 276 sidewalks on the west side of town. That compares to 202 reports on the east side.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets defended their home floor, hitting 13 triples en route to a 78-55 victory over the Bluffton men in the championship game of the HCAC Basketball Tournament on Sunday, Mar. 1. Bluffton’s season came to an end at 16-12 while the Yellow Jackets enter the NCAA Division III Tournament with a mark of 22-6 overall.
