From circa 1918, here is the Noah F. and Susan (Gerig) Steiner family. The Steiner farm was four miles west of Bluffton on Columbus Grove Road. The Zion Mennonite Cemetery is directly east of the farm.

Seated from left, Susan Gerig Steiner, Nelson F., Stanley, Ada Steiner Gierman and Noah F. Steiner.
Nelson was the father of Icon owner, Fred Steiner.
Ever wonder what a bird sees when it perches on top of the town hall? Here's an example. The Icon took this view looking south on Main Street from the town hall clock tower.
Here's a story that will interest all Bluffton railfans. It is reposted from The Ohio Association of Railroad Passengers (dba All Aboard Ohio). Click here for more information about All Aboard Ohio.
For advocates of rail transportation, one of the most enjoyable developments is to see a railroad line come back to life.
When Fred sent me this photo, I just groaned. I knew it wasn't a good idea to leave him alone with my dad's slides and photos....sure enough, one has resurfaced. Dad labeled all of his slides and photos but this one had been digitized without a date identification. My best guess was that I was 8 because my brother, John (far right) is 8 years older and looks about 16 in the photo.
The Icon has a Santa's sleigh-full of memories. Each has a Bluffton touch. We've collected several stories we've posted in past Christmases and packaged them just for you on this Christmas Eve.
And, if you don't mind, the Icon will take a brief holiday vacation. So, excuse us while we open presents. We'll be back with new material on Dec. 26.
