On a day that started cold, windy and gray, the sun shined on the Bluffton University men's and women's track and field team as the day progressed at the Marv Frye Invitational held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The Beavers produced an event winner, three school records and a number of personal record (PR) performances.
Naomi Basinger will be celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born on April 16, 1919 in Lafayette, Ohio. She married Orville Basinger. They had two children: Lynn (Betty) Basinger, Bluffton and Jane (Mark) Kinsinger, Pandora. She has 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for James R. Suter will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. A fellowship meal will follow the service.
A proposed “amended” sidewalk ordinance passed the first of three readings on Monday by a 3 to 2 vote of Bluffton council members.
Voting for the amendment were Sean Burrell, Roger Warren and Joe Sehlhorst. Voting against the amendment were Judy Augsburger and Everett Collier. Mitch Kingsley was absent during the vote.
The amended ordinance proposes that repair of current sidewalks in the village continue at the expense of the property owner. It also proposes that the village create a fund to pay for the installation of new sidewalks where it deems new sidewalks necessary.
The windows are still partially covered, but the door is open.
CG Pro Bikes is now open at 127 N. Main St., Bluffton, according to owners Ray and Liz Harner. The owners are still in the "move in" process. A grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place later this spring.
Eariler this winter the Harners of Columbus Grove purchased the Siferd Hoselman Co auto parts building and The Curling Iron building at 127-129 N. Main St.
Bluffton schools will present a program showcasing its latest classroom technology during the Friday, April 11, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. The program is in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.
In addition, Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs will announce the three winners of its 2014 Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition. The first place winner receives $5,000 in business start up costs; second place $1,000 in business start up costs; third place, a one-year free affiliation with BCE’s services.
