Freda M. “Fritz” Neiswander, 108, formerly of Adrian, Mich., died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014.
She was born Jan. 4, 1906, in Ada, Ohio, the seventh of 16 children of Alfred and Adele (Grant) Criblez, and was raised on the family farm in Bluffton, Ohio.

She was married to Eugene C. Neiswander for 67 years, and he preceded her in death in 2001.

 

Nina L. Nuzum, 75, of Bluffton died at her residence Feb. 25, 2014, at 6:55 p.m.  She was born Dec. 20, 1938 in Alvada to the late Wilson and Aimee Beck Fruth.  On June 23, 1956, she married Delmer Nuzum Sr. and he survives.

Mrs. Nuzum was a homemaker. She was a 1956 graduate of Vanlue High School.  

Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., is now officially part of Et Cetera Shop, Inc.

While the popular Main Street used bookstore has operated for several years as a partner with Et Cetera and Ten Thousand Villages, Et Cetera Shop became the owner on Feb. 22.

To commemorate the transfer, the Et Cetera Board held a “signing over” of the Bill of Sale from bookstore owner Ruth Unrau, and acknowledgement of Unrau’s time, talent, resources, energy and dream of the mission of the shop.

Bluffton middle school teacher, Dina Tadena, was recently named the Northwest Region Teacher of the Year at the Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA) state conference, according to Kyle Leatherman, middle school principal.

She teaches sixth and seventh grade math at the Bluffton Middle School.

Six Ohio regions awarded teachers based on performances both in and out of the classroom. Jay Clark, Van Buren Middle School principal and OMLA board member, presented her with the award.

Royalty dwells in Bluffton. Meet the king and queen of the 2014 Maple Crest Valentine's Day celebration: Barbara and Charles Wood. The couple was chosen by Maple Crest residents. The event also included the announcement of Greg Moser as Mr. Congeniality.
