The Village of Bluffton has received a $113,100 grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission, Columbus, to assist in the cost of the Kibler Street water main replacement project. Funding will be available on July 1.

Another possible grant has yet to be decided upon. The village hopes to receive a grant for financial assistance for a Garmatter water main replacement project.
That grant is through the Small Community Program.

Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, will explain the grants at Monday’s Bluffton council meting.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team had a Heartland Conference semi-final berth in its sights with a 45-33 lead and 15:44 on the clock before #5 seed Manchester University turned up the defensive pressure and rallied for a 65-62 victory on Friday, Feb. 28.

Bluffton High School athlete Hannah Conley broke a Bradford Powerlifting meet record for squat in her weight class with 280 pounds, according to Kelly Prichard, coach. Here are all the Bluffton team results at the meet.

Time for Round 2.

The Bluffton fire department takes on the Bluffton police department in the second annual Battle of the Badges basketball game. The police team hopes to defend their title from last year’s inaugural contest.

The event, at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 2, at the Sommer Center at Bluffton University, is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted at the door.

The fund-raiser will include raffles, door prizes, a 50-50 drawing, concessions and the chance for a half-court shot.

Proceeds benefit Bluffton’s emergency services.

Here's an up-and-coming Pirate wrestler.

Bluffton student Brennan Davies participated in the Miami Valley Kid Wrestling Association Tournament at Wright State's Nutter Center in Dayton on Feb. 24. This followed  the regular season where he placed first in the regional tournament held at Lima Central Catholic School.

In the state competition Brennan placed second in the state in the 12 year-old heavyweight category.

His coaches are Scott Slaughterbeck, Travis Klemen, Zac Kohli, and Jeff Klemen.
