The Bluffton University Beavers opened their 2013 campaign on the road as they traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University to face the Battlin’ Bishops. The home squad outscored the Beavers 20-3 in the second quarter en route to a 37-20 victory over visiting Bluffton.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, at noon the public is invited to gather at St. Mary's Catholic Church for a time of prayer and fasting for peace in Syria, according to Wendy Chappell-Dick.
People of all backgrounds and faiths are invited to skip lunch and come together to fast and pray for the people of Syria.
Attendees will be encouraged to contact Rep. Jim Jordan and Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown urging them to avoid any violent response to the violence and suffering in Syria.
The Pandora United Methodist Church will host a program to foster better understanding of Islam. People in the United States have very little understanding of the history of Islam and its connection to Judaism and Christianity. The World of Belief: Inside Islam – is a two part video and discussion presentation will inform participants on the foundations of this major world religion and guide to understanding how Islam functions in the global community.
Part One will be Sunday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. (These are the same session repeated.)
The Beavers have put their first notch in the 2013 win column. After a long bus ride to Illinois Wesleyan University, the girls had some down time before playing their first match of the tournament against Illinois College on Friday, Sept. 6.
