BFR Sports and Fitness has announced open registration for the following youth and adult activities:

Indoor Soccer

BFR Sports & Fitness is currently accepting registration for Session 3 of the indoor soccer league.

This session begins the week of January 6 and runs for 5 weeks plus a tournament. There are divisions for U8 players all the way through adults. Cost for this league is $440 per team. Deadline for registration is January 28 and all are reminded that divisions may fill early.

The next lunchtime meeting of the Bluffton Lions Club will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Maple Crest at noon. 

The featured speaker will be Peter Previte, professor of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University.  He will be speaking on the topic of a “Brief History of the Federal Food/Drug/Cosmetic Act”.  

In additonal business, the meeting will include the induction of some new members.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors met Thursday in Columbus for its regularly scheduled January meeting. The following are highlights from the meeting. The complete set of meeting minutes will be posted at www.OHSAA.org.

The Bluffton University cheerleaders will host two clinics for girls in grades 3-8, leading to a performance at a Bluffton men’s basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Participants will learn a chant, cheer and dance at the clinics, scheduled for 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, and Thursday, Feb. 7, in Founders Hall. Cost is $25, which includes a t-shirt.

The performance will take place at halftime of the Feb. 9 basketball game against Hanover in the new Sommer Center. The game begins at 3 p.m.

Lauren Yost is the final BHS Student of the Month for 2012.  Lauren is the daughter of Jason and Jennifer Yost of Bluffton.

Lauren has maintained a 4.000 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.  She is a member of the BHS Latin, Drama and Math clubs and is a member of the D3 OMEA Honors Choir.  She participates in marching, concert, jazz and pep bands, is part of the BHS Strings program and sings in the BHS concert, chamber and show choirs.

Madison Hall keeps her eye on the tennis ball during a BFR youth tennis class. Students may still sign up for classes this winter.
