What goes up must come down - eventually. Here's a welcome sign on Bluffton's Main Street. This photo shows the sign on the Bluffton Marathon at the corner of Main and College. The price of one gallon of gas dropped below $3 for the first time in, well, a long time. On Dec. 15 the price was slightly above $3, but it changed on Dec. 16.

Prices in Findlay, for example, were at least 15 cents higher than Bluffton yesterday, so The Icon believes this price is unique to Bluffton.

I am blessed to volunteer with the Community Assistance Program occasionally and especially during adopt a family. The year 56 families/individuals were adopted. What is special about adopt a family? Each month they come and get about five items and pick out 25 to 30 items in the pantry. They know that most of it is donated, but during adopt a family someone /organization specifically takes care of a family, they make that connection, they know someone cared.

Christmas cheer went out to 56 families in the Bluffton school district, thanks to efforts of the Bluffton Community Assistance Program's "Adopt A Family" program. Volunteer donors provided gifts, food and essential items to the families being assisted by the program.

Ah! The Christmas spirit lives on the sculpture at Snider Circle on the Bluffton University campus. The sculpture was decorated last week with Christmas tree ornaments.

The Bluffton University women’s basketball team was defeated by Transylvania University, 63-52, on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012.

The Beavers slipped to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the HCAC, while Transylvania moved to 6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the HCAC.

The Pioneers came out ready to play and were up 5-0 less than three minutes into the game.

The Beavers fought back as a three-pointer from freshman Kaitlyn Pennekamp (Hamilton/Ross) at the 12:38 mark cut Transy’s lead to just two.
