One of the more prominent items in Mark Bourassa's office is a framed poster announcing the 1986 Olympics in Amsterdam. If you're an Olympics historian, you might remember that Amsterdam lost the bid for those games to Barcelona, making the "bid poster" something of a collectible.

Bluffton University students Sarah Diller (Bluffton), soprano, and Brandon Fullenkamp (Wapakoneta), piano, will perform a junior recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the lobby.

Several days ago, gamers all over the world cried out in anguish at the news that the Playstation Portable release of Shiny Entertainment's classic platformer Earthworm Jim had been canceled. I don't know how this will affect the downloadable XBLA, PSN, and Wiiware releases, but I'm guessing the news isn't good on those fronts either.

Howard Eckenwiler

Howard Roy Eckenwiler, 66, Beaverdam, died Feb. 27, 2010, at his residence. He was born Feb. 11, 1944, to Roy and Georgene (Bishop) Eckenwiler. He married Marlene Vorhes in 1991 and she survives.

Mr. Eckenwiler retired from Consolidated Biscuit of McComb. He was a member of the American Legion Post 382, Bluffton. He was a 1962 graduate of Beaverdam High School and was valedictorian of his class.

I married my husband because a.) he made me laugh; b.) he liked to do the dishes, c.) he got a 100 percent approval rating from all four of my brothers and d.) he was as weird as I was.

Okay, so there were other reasons. He was kind of cute. He liked to go shopping. To malls. He was cheaper than I was. And oh yeah, there was that little thing called love.
