ArtSpace/Lima announces its Soup and Salad Winter 2012 Lecture Series. This year's topic is The Art in Your Life, a practical guide to buying, framing, hanging, talking about, and living with art on a daily basis.
Jan. 28 - Lecture #1, "Buying Art' will be given by Laura Corle, Findlay art teacher and practicing artist, specializing in photo-realistic watercolors.
Corle has shown her work in multiple galleries in Ohio, including the Findlay Art League and ArtSpace/Lima (in the St. Rita's Mezzanine Gallery and in Spring Show).
She is currently one of the watercolorists on display at the Grace Albrecht Gallery at Bluffton University. Long a passionate and articulate advocate for buying original art, Laura will comment on the benefits for both the buyer and the artist when original art is bought instead of mass-produced prints or objects.
Jan. 31 - Lecture #2 will feature Brian Krawetzke, Shawnee High School, commenting on and demonstrating the finer points of "The Art of Framing." Krawetzke combines his work as a high school teacher with an active personal creative agenda.
He has shown at ArtSpace in Spring Show and in Those Who Teach Can Likewise Do in 2009. He is co-curator of ArtSpace's upcoming Hand-Pulled: Ohio Printmakers, an exhibit scheduled for early summer 2012.
Feb. 7 - Linda Lehman, professor of Art Education at Ohio Northern University, will deliver Lecture #3 on the subject of "Looking at and Talking about Art," a practical guide to knowing what to look for in art, then putting that knowledge into practice.
Lehman also pursues an active agenda as a watercolor artist, is a member of the Lima Area Watercolor Society, has shown her work at ArtSpace/Lima, and is the Board of Trustees Chair of ArtSpace/Lima's Exhibit Committee.
Suppers begin at 6 p.mp at ArtSpace, illustrated lectures to follow at 7 p.m.
