Once a Beaver, now a RedHawk - Ed Stults joins Miami (Ohio) football coaching staff
Hey, Ed, can you get us some tickets to the Ohio State-Miami game?
Remember Bluffton alumnus Ed Stults? He's now a new coach at Miami (Ohio). Guess where they play their first game this year? (Answer below)
Joining the RedHawk staff are former Miami star Ron Carpenter and veteran coach Stults. Carpenter will coach MU's defensive backs and Stults will work with the RedHawk offensive line.
Stults has coached for 32 years, including two seasons as head coach at Defiance College (1994-95). A 1980 graduate of Bluffton University, he began his coaching career at Bluffton upon graduation and served through 1988.
Stults has also coached at:
othe University of Cincinnati (offensive line, 1988-89),
oEdinboro University (offensive line/run game coordinator, 1989-94),
oCalifornia University of Pennsylvania (assistant head coach/offensive coordinator/offensive line/quarterbacks, 1996-2001),
oJacksonville University (offensive coordinator/offensive line, 2001-03),
oBall State University (assistant head coach/special teams coordinator/tight ends/offensive line, 2003-08),
oColumbia High School in Lake City, Fla. (offensive line, 2009-10), oUniversity of Findlay (offensive coordinator, 2010-11) and again at oColumbia High (offensive coordinator, 2011-12).
"Ed and I have worked together in the Mid-American Conference and that background is huge," said Miami's Head Coach Treadwell. "For many years he was with Brady Hoke at Ball State. Like John Klacik, Ed has been a head coach before, so he knows how to work from the dynamic of the entire group. He's an experienced veteran who just happened to be available and we're very pleased to have him on our staff. Ed's background will allow us to move Coach Klacik to be more engaged with all of the offensive groups."
